Bronwen's Garden

A sanctuary for reflection and remembering.

Located on the north grounds of the building along the Esquimalt entrance, West Vancouver United Church welcomes you into the quiet memorial garden. Named in honour of Bronwen Gouws, daughter of Reverend and Mrs. John Gouws, the garden was created in 2007 by the WVUC congregation. Remembered loved ones are memorialized on engraved plaques on the chapel wall above a garden bench.

Bronwen’s Garden was dedicated in October 2007 in a service led by Reverend Don Collett, Reverend John Gouws and the choir. The theme of the garden is described on the plaque at the entrance to the garden:

“Love bears all things, believes all thing, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails. Faith, Hope and Love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is Love.” I Corinthians 13

Bronwen’s Garden was designed to be a welcome and contemplative setting for adults and children alike. The garden is a fitting memorial to our loved ones and will endure for generations to come.
