Back to School

The shrill sound of the bedside alarm clock shattered our casual summertime morning routine around the house. The first week of September meant one thing, “Back to School.” Chaos erupted throughout the home as we rediscovered “the joy” of making lunches, gulping breakfast and filling backpacks as we ran out the door to meet the elementary school bell. As I drove out of the school parking lot and down the hillside to the church, I realized that as a church family we too are going “back to school” in this month of September. Whether we are 5 or 85, the people who call West Van United home are enrolling for another year as disciples in the “school of Jesus.” We do this as a free choice having discovered that studying at the feet of Jesus is the source of true joy and wisdom. Like the disciples of old we say in John 6: 68-69, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We believe and know that you are the Holy One of God.” Why not join us on this Sunday at 10 am and start your adventure of learning with the source of all wisdom and joy?
