Lead Minister – Phillip Newman firstname.lastname@example.org
Rev. Philip Newman joined the staff of West Vancouver United Church as Lead Minister in August 2015. Philip was raised on a small farm in Southwestern Ontario from which he commuted to the local university in the border city of Windsor where he received his BA in Developmental Psychology. He then pursued his Master of Divinity at the Toronto School of Theology and has since served congregations in New Brunswick, Ontario and now British Columbia. Philip sees The United Church of Canada as the place where people are called to think for themselves and to ponder theological questions about how God works in their lives and in the world.
A basic question Philip asks himself and invites others to engage is “What difference does it make in your life or in your community to be part of a faith community or to be a follower of Jesus?” Philip loves working with people as they discover the grace of God in everyday life. He believes that the community of faith is called to share God’s word of healing and hope and that we are called to put that word into action as we share life with the community around us.
Philip is grateful for the opportunity to serve with such an active and vital congregation on the North Shore.
Many years ago Philip and his wife, Kim Logan, met at a United Church Camp, and to this day both Kim and Philip enjoy camping with family and friends. They reside in Ambleside where walks along the seawall and jaunts in their kayaks are made all the more fun.

Children’s Programs – Dylon Nofziger email@example.com
Dylon Nofziger began as Godly Play leader in August 2010. Having completed an undergraduate degree in theology and recreation as well as a Master of Divinity degree, Dylon moved to Vancouver in 2007.
Growing up in rural Alberta with no electricity or running water, he was without our societies ‘props’ that are easily leaned on for entertainment. While many children have television and sports teams, he had a dog and a forest. And so play became a central part of his story as well as his understanding of God.
He loves stories, and the ability that stories have to uncover deeper and simpler realities about our world and about this God who offers us his love–asking only that we come as little children to receive this love. He enjoys working with the Godly Play curriculum as a means to facilitate the spiritual journeys of young theologians and story tellers.
Dylon looks forward to meeting you this coming Sunday as we welcome children aged 4 and up to Sunday Kids Club.
